Good morning! Like many areas in the country we are starting to see the onset of fall. My family and I decided to make a last minute trip to Valdez, AK to see if we could snag a couple late Silver Salmon and we were treated to a drive that was filled with oranges, browns, reds and brilliant yellows all along the way. If you can time it right a trip along the Glenn and Richardson Highways when it is in full autumn splendor is one that will not be forgotten.
The Glenn Highway started us off with some breathtaking views:
L217A fall storm making its way across the Chugach Mountains viewed from the Glenn Highway.

L205View of the Glenn Highway from the head of Long Lake.

L202Matanuska Glacier in its fall glory
The Matanuska Glacier dressed in her fine autumn colors.
Not to be outdone the Richardson Highway provided us with some pretty specatular views of its own!
L206Glacier hanging from the clouds close to the summit of Thompson Pass.
A glacier hanging down out of the clouds along the summit of Thompson Pass.
L204Worthington Glacier in early fall.
Of course a drive along the Richardson Highway wouldn't be complete without a glimpse at the Worthington Glacier.
I have driven this route many times but I have to say that seeing it in its fall glory may have made it my favortie time of year to go!
