Monday Mutterings: Valley of Fire State Park NevadaJust a bit north of Las Vegas lies a Nevada's oldest state park. I think it may be one of the most beautiful hidden gems in Nevada, the Valley of the Fire State Park. Fair warning: it is off the beaten path but well worth the trip. If you head north out of Las Vegas on I-15 and take Exit 75 and follow the signs, it will feel like they are leading you astray but after 10-15 miles you will come upon an amazing vistas of red rock and sandstone that seem almost like something found on another planet or something that should be a painting.
I was lucky enough to be there when the cacti were in bloom and those blooms brought in some beautiful humming birds. After perusing the visitor center head up Mouse Tank Road for some spectacular views of these rocks.
