Monday Mutterings: Around Oahu the shorelinesYou can't talk about Hawaii without talking about beaches! The island of Oahu has an impressive 227 miles of shoreline. Some of it is inaccessible for the average Joe but the parts that are available are fantastic. We spent most of the three weeks driving around and checking out the beaches that we could get to. I think my favorite for swimming was the one at Bellows AFB. It was beautiful white sand beaches and a lot of fun to play in the waves. My favorite for watching the power of the waves was along the southern shore at Halona Blowhole. OHI104Halona Blowhole along the west coast of Oahu. The North shore provided some pretty spectacular waves and views as well. OHI109A beach along the North Shore of Oahu. OHI118The waves created their own beauty.
In truth no matter what side of the island you were on the beaches were like something out of a post card! OHI110The windward side of the island.
